This policy explains what personal data Skill Mountain Academy collects, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We only ask for what we need.
1. Who we are
Skill Mountain Academy Limited ("SMA", "we", "us") runs this website and the one-on-one training programmes offered on it. We decide how your personal data is used, which makes us the data controller. Our business details are at the bottom of this page.
2. What we collect
Application: the learner's first, middle and last name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country, city or state, education level, preferred programme length, English level, whether the learner is 18 or older, and your answers to our short questions about your background and goals. If the learner is under 18 we also collect a parent or guardian's name and phone number. Payment: your payment reference, the programme, the amount and whether it was paid. We never see or store your card details, because Paystack handles them. Mailing list: your email address. Messages: anything you send us by email or WhatsApp. We do not ask for ID documents, passport photographs, marital status, religion, health information or other sensitive details. Please do not send them to us.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
To take your application and payment and set up your training (to carry out our agreement with you or take steps you ask for before it). To contact you about your programme and send your welcome email, curriculum and booking link (the same basis). To send news and offers by email (only if you subscribe, which is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time). To keep our records, prevent fraud and meet legal and accounting duties (our legitimate interests and legal obligations).
4. Who receives your data
We use trusted service providers who process data for us: Paystack (payments), Google (Google Forms, Google Sheets and Gmail, where we store applications and send emails), our email provider for the admission@skillmountainacademy.com mailbox, GitHub (website hosting), Calendly (only if you choose to load the booking calendar) and WhatsApp (only if you message us). We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where the law requires it.
5. Transfers outside Nigeria
Some of these providers store or process data in other countries. We choose providers that protect data with recognised safeguards, and we share only what is needed.
6. How long we keep it
We keep application and payment records while you are a learner and afterwards only for as long as we need them for your certificate, our accounts and legal duties. Mailing list emails are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data sooner, and we will do so unless we must keep it by law.
7. Children
Registration for any learner under 18 must be completed by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for the learner's data to be used as described here. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children. If you think a child has given us data without a parent or guardian's consent, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
You have the right to be told how your data is used, to see it, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to limit or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will reply within the time the law requires. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We limit who can see applications, use secure (HTTPS) connections, keep payment card handling with Paystack, and store application data in password-protected Google accounts. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the NDPC where the law requires.

11. Marketing emails
We only email you offers and news if you subscribed. Every such email will include an unsubscribe link and our business address.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
